Tom has a master's degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri. He has been an award-winning photographer and photo editor at news organizations across the country, including the Huntsville (Ala.) Times, Anderson (S.C.) Independent-Mail, the Charlotte Observer and The Sun News in Myrtle Beach,
His portfolio shows his skill with portraits, action, sports, aerials, animals and real estate photography. His experience in the news business means he can meet deadlines, no matter how tight, with photographs that tell your story.
He has photographed wildfires, tornados, professional sports along with such well-known figures as President Barack Obama, astronaut Neil Armstrong, GOP candidate Mitt Romney, Watergate co-conspirator G. Gordon Liddy, and 60s counter-culture icon Timothy Leary.
The photos he treasures most, though, are the ones that capture what journalists call a storytelling moment: the split second that shows the bond between people; their pets; their surroundings; their creations.
